 Source:  Northwest USA, Lake states, Canada.

 Color:   Cream to light reddish-brown heartwood, thin white sapwood, tinged with reddish brown.

 Pattern:  Usually straight grained; fine textured.

 Characteristics:  Heavy, hard, tough, close-grained.

Uses:  Furniture, flooring, interiors, cabinetwork, decorative veneer.
